MOREHEAD, Ky. – For the second week in a row,
Veronica Charles has been named OVC Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Charles led the Eagles in scoring for the week, putting up double figures in all three games, beginning with a 15 point effort against Brescia. Charles continued her big week by leading the team with 19 points against Evansville, and posted her second career double-double to finish the week against Bellarmine with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
The 5-foot-4 guard also continued her torrid pace defensively, swiping 19 more steals over the three-game stretch and now sits atop the country in steals this season with 38 and her 4.2 steals per game leads the conference and places her third nationally.
Charles and the Eagles now prepare for their final two non-conference matchups, beginning at USC Upstate next Monday.
