Six Rifle Eagles Named All-OVC and Joseph Tabbed OVC Coach of the Year at League Title Match

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Six Morehead State rifle student-athletes were named All-Ohio Valley Conference, and head coach
Alan Joseph was tabbed the league's Coach of the Year for the second straight season as MSU competed at and finished second overall in the OVC Championships at Murray State Sunday.
Joseph's shooters tabulated a 4675 total, including going just one point shy of the school Smallbore record with a 2322. Juniors
Bryce Ward and
Elizabeth Plecity were named First-Team All-OVC in Smallbore, while fellow junior
Grace Weber earned a First-Team nod in Air Rifle.
Senior
Erin Diehl's marks placed her Second-Team All-OVC on both guns, while Ward was also second-team in Air. Seniors
Katie Frye (SB) and
Amber Schifano (AR) also earned second-team selections.
In Smallbore, Plecity's season-high 586 was the second best total among all the competitors, while Ward's 582 was fourth highest. Diehl and Frye both carded 577.
Weber fired a team-high 590 in Air, followed by 589 from Diehl's apparatus. Both Ward and Schifano fashioned 587 scores, and Frye was close behind with a 586.Â
The final regular-season match for MSU now takes place Feb. 19 at Kentucky with the NCAA Qualifier. Scores are combined with other season scores to determine the eight teams advancing to the NCAA Championships. Individuals also have the chance to qualify with determining scores from the qualifier.
