MOREHEAD, Ky. – Gino Spadaro and
David Brubaker have joined the Morehead State football coaching staff. Spadaro will be a defensive assistant leading the cornerbacks as well as serving as co-special teams coordinator, and Brubaker will join the Eagles as the director of football administration.
Head Coach
Rob Tenyer has made some other moves in addition to Spadaro and Brubaker. Val Kattoula, who served as administrative assistant and assistant offensive line quality control in 2021, is now the tight ends coach. Eagle alum
Ryan Bennett, who led the tight ends in 2021, is now over the running backs.
Following his playing career, Spadaro became the cornerbacks coach at Montana Tech, where he had the opportunity to coach and develop an all-conference player. After one season at Montana Tech, Spadaro moved to Lake Erie College as the linebackers coach. Spadaro moved on to Colorado Mesa University, where he has coached the past two seasons prior to joining the Eagles. Spadaro first coached defensive ends before being promoted to linebackers coach at CMU.
Spadaro was a four-year starter for Bluffton (Ohio), a Division III program. He played linebacker and was a captain his senior season. Spadaro was part of the winningest class in program history. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in broadcasting and journalism in 2018.
Brubaker started his career as a recruiting and coaching intern at Penn State, his alma mater. His main responsibilities were compiling data for coaches, and working pre-game and post-game operations.
Brubaker finished his career as Penn State in 2019 and accepted a position with the Lehigh football program. He worked in football operations, recruiting quality control, and as a special teams analyst. Some of his responsibilities included film breakdown for the coaching staff and practice preparation for both the offense and defense.
His biggest responsibility however, was coaching the punt blocking unit. Brubaker elevated his troops to No. 1 in all of FCS with five blocks. Brubaker received a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology movement science from Penn State in 2019.
