MOREHEAD, Ky. – The cold didn't bother Morehead State men's golf anyway as the team finished third at the Butler Spring Invitational, fashioning rounds of 292-284—576.

"I was proud of the toughness we showed in the brutally cold conditions," head coach Matthew Martin said.

Fifth-year Joe Muschong finished the tournament only one shot behind the leaders, tying for 4th and carding a 70-70—140. Muschong tied for the lowest par 5 average at -3 and was tied for the second most birdies in the tournament with eight.

Fellow fifth-year Zac Viminitz charged up the leaderboard in day two, moving up 30 spots to finish tied for 8th, fashioning rounds of 74-68—142. The 68 recorded by Viminitz in the second round, which featured five birdies on the day, was the lowest score of the day and tied the lowest score in the entire tournament.

"Zac's round today was one of the best of his career and Joe continues to show that his game can stand up to any and all challenges," Martin added.

Sophomore Cameron Travis also jumped up the leaderboard in day two, carding a 75-72—147 to finish tied for 27th.

Blake Evans turned in a consistent performance, leading the team with 25 pars as he fashioned rounds of 74-74—148 to finish tied for 34th.

Rounding out the Eagles quintet, Ryan Gillum had a trio of birdies in the first round and finished with a 74-79—153.

Playing as individuals, Nolan Piazza finished in the top-35 with rounds of 73-75—148 and Andrew Marrs recorded six birdies as he finished with a 79-78—157.

The Eagles return to the links next week at the Carpenter-Chaney Classic dual hosted by Morehead State and UT Martin. The two-day match play event tees off from Tunica National in Tunica, Miss.
