Rivalry Renewed: Baseball Heads to Richmond for Mid-Week Matchup vs. EKU

MOREHEAD, Ky. – A rivalry that goes back nearly 100 years ramps up once again this Tuesday as the Morehead State baseball team heads to Richmond to face a familiar foe in eastern Kentucky. The Eagles (16-22, 5-7 OVC) and the Colonels (26-13, 12-6 ASUN) come in after polar opposite weekends, as MSU was swept by SEMO in three games, and EKU swept North Alabama.

First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, with live stats available. ESPN+ is available for the contest.

NOTABLE
  • Jackson Feltner has been on fire at the plate recently. The reigning OVC Freshman of the Year is tied with Ryley Preece for the team lead in homers with 10, and leads the team in batting average (.373) and total bases (100), and is currently riding an 11 game hit-streak.
  • Alex Jacobs has been impossible to keep off the base paths this season. Jacobs has reached base safely in 36 straight games, and 37 out of 38 total games for Morehead State. The left fielder also leads the team in stolen bases with nine in 2022, and is second in hits with 52.
  • Nick Gooden drove in six runs in Saturday's doubleheader, including a three-run home run in the first game of the series, his fourth of the season. Gooden has a hit in six of his last seven games, with two multi-hit games in that period.
  • Jarrett Miller returned to form against SEMO this past weekend, appearing in the series opener and series finale. In those two appearances, the right-hander threw five scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and a walk to one of the best lineups in the OVC.
  • Roman Kuntz returned the lineup for the Eagles versus SEMO, finishing the series 4-8 with three runs scored in his first action since April 1.
  • Colton Becker's batting average jumped above .300 for the first time this season over the weekend. Becker has four straight multi-hit performances, and leads the team in doubles on the season with 14.
  • EKU has won five straight coming into to Tuesday's contest, but dropped five in a row before this winning streak began.
