MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State-Rio Grande home softball doubleheader on Monday has been postponed due to rainy weather in Morehead. No make-up date has been set.
"Due to 100 percent (chance of) rain on Monday, we will have to cancel our games versus Rio (Grande)," Morehead State softball coach
Samantha Jones said. "We will be looking at another play date to try to make it up."
The postponement becomes the 14th and 15th contests to be marked off the schedule for the Eagles this season. Included in that list are 13 which were slated to take place at Morehead State's University Field.
According to available records, and dismissing the Covid-19-impacted season of 2020, more games have been lost due to weather this spring than in any year since 2010 when 16 contests were washed out.
Next up for the Eagles is a Wednesday road trip to Marshall. The single game is slated to start at 3 p.m. The team will then travel to Belmont for three contests this weekend, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. The teams will conclude the series with a single game on Sunday starting at 2 p.m. ET.
