MOREHEAD, Ky. – The late schedule switch went for naught, as Morehead State softball will not host Rio Grande on Wednesday and will instead revert to the original date of Monday, April 18.
"We are going to cancel today's games due to wet field conditions and additional incoming rain. We will play Rio as originally scheduled on Monday, with times of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.," said MSU's Tickets and Facility Manager
Paul Rhodes.
The postponement continues a season plagued by weather issues. Wednesday's contests mark the 12th and 13th this spring that have either been postponed or canceled. All but two of those games were slated to take place at MSU's University Field. Of the seven sets of mid-week outings originally scheduled, only two have been played, including one single non-conference contest.
Morehead State's next games are now Friday and Saturday, when the team will host SIU-Edwardsville. Friday will feature a doubleheader starting at noon. Saturday will be a single contest also with a noon start time.
The Eagles will still have a seven-game home stand. The Rio Grande doubleheader will follow on Monday.
