MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State's men's and women's basketball teams know their Ohio Valley Conference journey for the 2022-23 seasons. The league announced the conference schedules this week, featuring an 18-game round-robin schedule.
The non-conference games will be released when all are official. Tip-off times, plus ticket information and sales will also be available soon.
This year, which is the 75th year of competition in the OVC, marks the first in the League for Lindenwood, Little Rock and Southern Indiana who became official members on July 1. They join Eastern Illinois, Southeast Missouri, SIUE, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin and MSU to make up the 10-team league.
The 2023 OVC tournaments are slated for March 1-4 at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind. It marks the sixth year in a row the event will be held at the venue.
Each OVC school is eligible to compete and win the OVC Tournament championship, including Lindenwood and Southern Indiana, who are beginning the reclassification process to Division I. It was previously announced that should a transitioning school win an OVC Tournament championship, the AQ shall be awarded to the tournament runner-up. Should the tournament runner-up also be a transitioning school, the AQ representative shall be the highest seed going into the tournament.
All conference games and home non-conference contests can be seen on ESPN networks, with the majority of games broadcast on ESPN+. Additional linear exposures on ESPNU and ESPN2 will be announced at a later date.
Both Eagle squads will face identical schedules with all doubleheaders scheduled. The slate opens on Thursday, Dec. 29 when MSU travels to face Tennessee State. A New Year's Eve twinbill will have the two teams in West Tennessee to face UT Martin.
One highlight of the ledgers includes a three-game home-stand spanning the end of January and the beginning of February where the Eagles will entertain Little Rock (Feb. 26), SIUE (Feb. 28) and Tennessee Tech (Feb. 2). That is followed by three straight away from Johnson Arena at Southern Indiana, Little Rock and Southeast Missouri.
The regular seasons conclude with a home doubleheader against UT Martin Feb. 25.
