MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Volleyball and beach volleyball alum
Olivia Lohmeier has been chosen as Morehead State's NCAA Woman of the Year nominee for 2021-22.
Established in 1991, the award recognizes female student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in their community, in athletics and in academics throughout their college careers. Conference offices will select up to two student-athletes from their member school nominations. The Woman of the Year Selection Committee will then select 10 student-athletes from each division, determining the Top 30 honorees. Of the Top 30, the Woman of the Year Selection Committee will announce nine finalists, three from each NCAA division. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will review the finalists and name the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year.
Lohmeier wrapped up her collegiate student-athlete career as one of the most awarded and accomplished players in indoor volleyball and on the sand. She earned her bachelor's degree with a 3.89 cumulative grade point average in information systems and owned a perfect 4.0 GPA in her Master's Degree program, Engineering Technology.
This past fall, she was named First-Team All-OVC for the fourth consecutive indoor season and was also a two-time OVC Offensive Player of the Year and three-time VolleyMag.com All-American. Lohmeier ranks second in career kills (1,989) at MSU and third in OVC history.
In beach volleyball, she was named First-Team All-OVCÂ in 2021 and 2022 and finished as the program's all-time flight wins leader with 53.Â
A Cincinnati, Ohio, native, Lohmeier was also named the Computer Information Systems Student of the Year for MSU during her undergrad work and was one of the commencement speakers during graduation exercises in 2020.
Lohmeier was a team leader for Athletes in Action among her many civic volunteering activities. She also volunteered for Say Boo to Drugs, Freshman Move-In Day, Better Life Church, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Claire Healthcare COVID-19 vaccine clinic, volleyball youth clinics and the Tri-County Animal Shelter.
