Soccer Season Begins with Home Opener vs. Central Michigan Thursday

Chris Fox's tenure begins on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET at the MSU Soccer Field, where the Chippewas and Eagles will meet for just the second time ever.
When discussing his first official match at the helm of the Morehead State soccer team, Fox said ...
"I know I speak for everyone when I say we're really excited for our first home game of the season. The players put in a lot of work both on the field and in the classroom throughout preseason. Everybody was given a run out in our lone exhibition this past weekend against Wright State, and we learned a lot. We're looking to keep taking strides forward on Thursday, and I'm sure the team will be ready."

- Central Michigan defeated Morehead State 1-0 in Mount Pleasant, Mich. in 2021, their only prior meeting.
NOTABLE
- Morehead State goalkeeper Michelle Jerantowski has been tabbed as a player to watch in the Ohio Valley Conference this season. In 2021, Jerantowski posted five shutouts (good for a 1.15 GAA) and saved 75 shots on goal.
- One of last season's top scorers returns for the Eagles in 2022, as Colleen Swift will once again be on the Morehead State attack. Swift scored two goals last season, moving her career total to seven. In 2018, Swift scored three goals and assisted on a trio of goals as well.
- Abby VanHoeve is back on the pitch for the Eagles this season. She has appeared in 52 matches in her collegiate career, scoring one goal and assisting on four more during her time at Morehead State.
- New head coach Chris Fox will look to lead the Morehead State soccer team to an OVC Tournament title in 2022, after winning the Big South Championship in 2021 with High Point University.
