MOREHEAD, Ky. – Led by a career best performance by
Nolan Piazza, men's golf finished fifth at the Grover Page Classic.
As a team, the Eagles carded rounds of 287-288-287—862 and had the best average scoring amongst the field on par 5s, going -29 over three rounds.
Sophomore
Nolan Piazza led the way for the Eagles, tying for fifth, marking the first top-5 finish in his collegiate career. Piazza fashioned rounds of 73-69-68—210 and tied for the most birdies in the tournament with 16. His third round 68 was the lowest of his career.
Freshman
Logan Liles claimed his first top-20 finish of his collegiate career after carding rounds of 72-71-72—215. The Vanceburg, Ky., native had the lowest scoring average on the team on par 3s and carded eagles in back-to-back rounds on the 5th hole.
Blake Evans tied his career best round with a 71 to open the tournament and was 2nd on the team in birdies with 33.
Logan McCormick connected on his first collegiate eagle in the final round, while
Cameron Travis and
Nolan Pierce, who competed as an individual, had 12 and 11 birdies, respectively.
The Eagles return to the links next week at the JT Poston Invitational. The two-day tournament tees off Monday from the Country Club of Sapphire Valley.
