MOREHEAD, Ky. -- It's a Homecoming for the Morehead State volleyball team (and for one other student-athlete in particular - see below in the notable section) this week as the Eagles host the annual Comfort Inn-Vitational at Johnson Arena. Matches against Quinnipiac (Friday 11 a.m. ET), Robert Morris (Friday 7 p.m) and North Alabama (Saturday 2 p.m.) are on the slate.
All three Eagle matches will be aired live on ESPN+ with
Joe Campione calling the plays.
Morehead State is 45-9 in the past five seasons in home matches, including a 33-7 (.825 winning percentage) in Johnson Arena after moving from venerable Wetherby Gym following the 2018 season.

NOTABLE
- MSU's first matchup with Quinnipiac will feature a Homecoming for QU freshman Bailey Brashear, a Morehead native who is Rowan County High School's all-time kills leader.
- Morehead State has hosted the Comfort Inn-Vitational (or a variation on the title) since 2006 (with only 2010 and 2021 spring not seeing an event). The Eagles have a 26-16 all-time record in CI matches.
- Following two weekends of play, Morehead State ranks second in the OVC in hitting percentage (.209). The Eagles also rank fourth in kills per set (12.00).
- With 3,060 career assists, senior setter
Bridget Bessler is well on her way to being in the top five all-time in assists in program history. In seventh in career helpers at MSU, She needs 106 assists to pass up Chris Drabenstott (1990-92) and Kirstie Brangers (2007-10) to move to fifth.
- Bessler leads all OVC setters with 9.56 assists per set.
- Middle blocker
McKenzee Wagener has done just that very well in her career - block. The 6-5 Ohio native is on the cusp of 200 career total blocks, with 192 to her credit in only 47 career matches.
- Sophomore right-side
Maycie Welborn has been extremely efficient on offense and in fact, she ranks third in the OVC in hitting percentage at .315.
- Freshman outside
M.E. Hargan has put together a solid first two college weekends, averaging 2.69 kills per set. Included in that was 13 kills in her debut on Aug. 26 versus Queens.
- The Eagles have posted 20+ win seasons in three of the last four campaigns and now have 33 seasons of 20+ wins to their credit in program history (since 1972). Head coach
