With Momentum on Their Side, Men's Hoops Heads to Lindenwood Saturday

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State's men's basketball team is riding high on momentum from defeating OVC first-place SIUE Thursday, and the Eagles will look to keep that energy in the upper echelon when they face Lindenwood on the road Saturday. Tip off at the Lions' Hyland Arena is set for 4:30 p.m. ET.

Morehead State makes its first foray into St. Charles, Mo., with its first-ever game against new Ohio Valley Conference member Lindenwood.

The game can be heard on the Eagle Sports Radio Network (WIVY-96.3 FM) with Chuck Mraz. It is also available on MSUEagles.com as well as network partner WGOH 100.9 FM/1370 AM. The game will also air live on ESPN+.

NOTABLE
Mark Freeman has scored 15+ points in five straight games and is the top scorer (22.6) in the OVC against other league foes. 

Mark Freeman has only missed two free throws in conference play. He ranks second in the league in FT accuracy against OVC teams at 94 percent (32-of-34).

• Speaking of successful free throws, Morehead State leads the OVC in free throw percentage (.741). The Eagles hit 77 percent in conference action.

Alex Gross is one of just 15 current players on Division I teams to score 2,000+ career points in college. He is the ONLY current player in Division I to record 2,000+ points AND 1,300+ career rebounds in college (Gross' first four seasons were in NAIA). His career college totals stand at 2,257 points and 1,372 career rebounds.

• Morehead State has three 1,000+ point college scorers on the same team this year. Alex Gross (2,257) and Branden Maughmer (1,860) already have well surpassed 1,000, while Mark Freeman now has 1,067. Freeman recently became the 36th all-time Eagle to reach 1,000 collegiate points while in an Eagle uniform.

Alex Gross ranks first in the OVC in blocked shots with 29. He averages 1.4 per game and has had at least one blocked shot in all 20 games.

• Morehead State saw five players score in double figures in the win at SIUE. It's the second time the Eagles have had five with 10+ in a game, while MSU had two games where six players reached 10+ in the point column.

Jake Wolfe has scored in double figures in eight of the past 10 games, averaging 12.0 points in that span.

Drew Thelwell has picked up his scoring output lately. He's reached double figures in eight straight games.

Kalil Thomas recorded his first career double-double at SIUE with 11 points (all in the first half) and 10 rebounds. Thomas leads MSU with 33 three-pointers this winter. 

• The Eagles rank first in the OVC in rebounding defense (32.2), or opponent rebound average. That translates into second in the conference in rebound margin (+3.5). The Eagles have ranked first or second in the league in rebound margin in three consecutive seasons.

• Among the 8 Division I men's basketball programs in Kentucky, Morehead State ranks first in wins in the last three seasons - 57.

• MSU is now 32-2 in the past three seasons when its opponent scores 60 or fewer points.

Preston Spradlin ranks first among the 10 current OVC head coaches in wins at their current school (103), winning percentage at their current school (.515), conference wins at the school (63) and conference winning percentage (.549).
