2023-24 SCHEDULE
PREDICTED ORDER OF FINISH & PRESEASON ALL-OVC TEAM
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Ohio Valley Conference's women's basketball predicted order of finish and Preseason All-Conference team was released Tuesday, with Morehead State's
Veronica Charles tabbed to the Preseason All-OVC team. Morehead State was picked ninth by coaches and communicators around the league.Â
Charles, a senior guard from Benue State, Nigeria, returns for a second season in a Morehead State uniform in 2023-24 after being named First Team All-OVC, All-Newcomer, and OVC Defensive Player of the Year in her first season as an Eagle.Â
The Eagles, who ranked top five in the nation in win improvement in 2022-23, come into the season with six returning Eagles from last season and many newcomers to the program. Head Coach
Cayla Petree, who is entering her third season at the helm of the program, is excited for the season and believes her staff and squad are ready to build off the momentum built last year.Â
"We're really excited," said Petree. "We've brought in a lot of talent and brought back a lot of talent as well. Our nonconference schedule is tough by design so when OVC play starts, we'll be battle tested and ready to compete."Â
Also returning from last season are
Paris McBride,
Hallie Rhodes,
Jayden Rhodes, Valentia Saric, and
Melissa Secchiaroli.Â
Newcomers include
Bri Raynor,
Matilda Soderlund,
Skylar Barnes,

Morehead State has an exhibition vs. Kentucky State at Johnson Arena on 10/24, before kicking off the season on 11/7 at Illinois.Â
