Volleyball Falls Back to .500 Following Setback at Lindenwood

SAINT CHARLES, Mo. --The Morehead State volleyball team won the first set, but couldn't hold on and fell in four sets (25-23, 22-25, 22-25, 17-25) to the Lindenwood Lions Friday on the road at Robert F Hyland Arena.

The loss dropped Morehead State's record to 11-11 overall and 4-6 in OVC play.

M.E. Hargan finished with 17 kills on the day to lead the Eagles offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .256. Morehead State got 28 digs from Peighton Isley along with seven blocks from Irene Wogenstahl and five rejections from Maycie Welborn to lead them defensively.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Eagles survived a back-and-forth first set to win 25-23 in a stanza that featured three lead changes and was tied nine times. Neither team led by more than four points in the match. Morehead State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked five Lindenwood (MO) attacks in the stanza.

SET 2 | Morehead State lost set two 25-22 to tie the match 1-1. The Eagles battled back from a seven-point 24-17 deficit, but Lindenwood (MO) hung on to take the set.

SET 3 | A set-three loss put Morehead State behind two sets to one. The Eagles dropped the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before losing the set 25-22.

SET 4 | Morehead State lost the fourth set and the match, falling 25-17. The Eagles trailed by as many as eight points as Lindenwood (MO) grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 and Morehead State wasn't able to recover in a set that was knotted up four times before the Lions took over.

Morehead State looks to rebound Saturday as the Eagles take on Lindenwood at 3:00 PM ET.
