MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Football faced a tough task at full scholarship program Tarleton State Saturday night. On a hot night in the Eagles' first-ever game played in the Lone Star State of Texas, TSU came out on top 42-0.
MSU fell to 3-4 overall while the Texans moved to 5-3.
Tarleton held the Eagles to negative-11 rushing yards. Eagle Quarterback
Carter Cravens finished 9-of-24 for 114 yards on the night.
MSU found itself only trailing 7-0 after the first quarter, but a long TD reception and a couple of rushing TDs by the home team had TSU up 28-0 at the half. The Texans put their fifth TD on the board in the middle of the third quarter and scored again in the middle of the fourth period to close out the scoring.
Defensively, linebacker
Jahleel Holmes did have a solid game, setting a career high with 13 tackles. Rover
Zane Porter also had a career-best day with nine stops.
Leading receiver
Ryan Upp only caught two passes but led the team with 43 yards.
The Eagles return to Pioneer League action with a cross country flight to face San Diego. Game time is 5 p.m. ET Saturday.
