CHARLESTON, IL --The Morehead State volleyball team could not overcome an opposing Panthers offense Friday on the road, losing to Eastern Illinois in straight sets (17-25, 13-25, 20-25).
The loss dropped Morehead State's record to 8-10 overall and 1-5 in OVC action.
Maycie Welborn finished with 12 kills on the day to lead the Eagles attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .308. MSU got 7 digs from Peighton Isley to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Eagles found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set 25-17. Morehead State trailed by as many as 10 points as Eastern Illinois grabbed the advantage for good at 5-4 in a set that was tied up three times before the Panthers took control.
SET 2 | A 25-13 second-set loss put Morehead State in a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Eagles fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Eastern Illinois finished the sweep with a third-set win. The Eagles lost the set 25-20 despite a strong performance on the attacking end. Morehead State registered a .367 attack percentage with 14 kills in the set loss.
Morehead State hosts three home matches next week, with Tennessee Tech in town on Tuesday before USI pays visit to Johnson Arena on Friday & Saturday.
