RESULTS
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Rifle shooters recorded five of the top six aggregate totals in its season opening match at Murray State Saturday, and it led to a 4,662-4,638 victory on the Racers' home range.
The Eagles totaled 2,360 in Air Rifle and had a 2,302 Smallbore score to knock off the Racers - a perennial top 10 team nationally.
Graduate students
Grace Weber (1,169 overall) and
Bryce Ward (1,168) led the Eagles. While not among the counters, freshman
Maria Koenig had a nice debut with 1,166. Sophomore
Adrianna Beard (1,164) and senior
Cassidy Wilson (1,161) rounded out the scorers.Â
In Air Rifle, Weber led all shooters with a 592. Wilson was just one point off, at 591. Ward was right behind at 590, and Beard scored a 587. Senior
Andrew Morris was also in the lineup with a 585.
In Smallbore, Koenig's college debut resulted in a team-high 587. Ward was at 578, while both Weber and Beard totaled 577. Wilson's scorecard read 570.
Other shooters for MSU included sophomore
Hayden Bell (582 AR) and freshman
Cooper Gray (575 AR).
The Eagles will be back in action Sunday, facing UT Martin at 10 a.m. ET at Murray State's range.
