MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Four Morehead State volleyball student-athletes have been honored on the Academic All-District Teams, as administered by College Sports Communicators (CSC - formerly CoSIDA).

This year's Eagle honorees include M.E. Hargan, Shea Hefner, Peighton Isley and Irene Wogenstahl. Morehead State has now had 17 volleyball individuals throughout the years earn academic all-district. Six advanced to be named Academic All-Americans.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors. In 2022, CoSIDA re-branded itself as the College Sports Communicators.

Currently, CSC sponsors Academic All-America® programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, swimming and diving and men's and women's track and field/cross country. Many other sports are eligible through the At-Large program. In 2022, the guidelines were updated to include more representation on the All-District teams. Sports have limitations to the number of athletes that can be nominated and the minimum grade-point average was raised to 3.50. All athletes nominated for all-district make the team. Student-athletes on an all-district team are then on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

Hargan, a sophomore outside hitter from Elizabethtown, Ky., has a 3.73 grade point average in veterinary science. A First-Team All-OVC selection, Hargan led the Eagles with 391 kills (3.96/set). Hargan finished sixth in the OVC in kills/set, fifth in kills and posted eight double-doubles.

Hefner is a redshirt sophomore defensive specialist from Bridgeport, W.Va. Hefner sports a 3.63 GPA in biomedical sciences. She totaled 275 digs this season and ranked second on the team with 34 service aces.

Isley, a junior libero from Westfield, Ind., who has a 3.59 GPA in legal studies, posted the 10th highest single-season dig total in program history with 564 in 2023. She posted 15 matches with 20+ digs. Isley also served up 23 aces.

Wogenstahl is a native of Crestview Hills, Ky. The redshirt junior middle blocker has a 3.77 GPA in marketing. She led the conference in solo blocks (35) and piled up 126 total blocks this fall. Wogenstahl was also named First-Team All-OVC. She has 327 total blocks in her career.
