MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Following a 4-0 week and the best week of his collegiate career, Morehead State baseball's
Colton Becker has been named OVC Player of the Week. The shortstop is the third straight Eagle to win Player of the Week, and fourth Eagle to win the award this season.
Becker came into the week without a home run this season before smashing four in as many games. A 3-5 day with two home runs vs. Ohio opened the week, as Becker launched a two-run and a three-run shot in the season-sweep-clinching win over Ohio on Tuesday. In Thursday's series opener vs. Canisius, he finished a single short of the cycle with three RBI.
On Friday, Becker tied the game at three with an RBI triple before giving the Eagles the lead with a go-ahead grand slam, his fourth home run of both the week and season, becoming the first Eagle to homer in three straight games this season. He finished up the week with a 2-2 showing, notching a pair of RBI and stealing three bases as well.
On the year, Becker leads the team in RBI with 32, and is a perfect 14-14 in stolen bases. He ranks third in the conference in both categories.
Winners of six straight, Becker and Morehead State hit the road this week, beginning with a mid-week contest at Bellarmine before resuming OVC play at Lindenwood in a three-game set this weekend.
