MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Despite taking a number of individual duals to three sets, Morehead State Beach Volleyball fell 3-0 to top seed and host UT Martin at the OVC Tournament Friday afternoon.
The Eagles, the third seed, dropped into Saturday's opening action at 11 a.m. ET versus the winner of the Chattanooga/Tennessee Tech dual, which takes place Friday evening. MSU just defeated Chattanooga Thursday evening. That winner will then face UTM in the championship match, a winner-take-all format.
The Skyhawks were able to get past MSU with wins at the Nos. 3-4-5 duals. At No. 5,
Peyton Kennedy and
Brenna Bommer started out well with a 21-13 first-set win. But they then fell 21-11, 15-12.
At No. 4,
Andrea Grimes and
Irene Wogenstahl fell in straights as did
Abby Hulsman and
Anya Reinhard at No. 3.
At No. 1,
Trinity Miller and
Sydney Wyman had taken their match to a third set, and
Kinsey McAfee and
Bridget Bessler won their first set at No. 2 and were in a third set when the match was clinched.
