MOREHEAD, Ky. -- For the second consecutive season Morehead State Beach Volleyball battled its way into the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship match. Unfortunately, 2023 played out in similar fashion as 2022.Â
The Eagles knocked off Chattanooga 3-1 Saturday morning to reach the title matchup but then fell to the top seed and host UT Martin Skyhawks 3-0. Despite the loss, the Eagles finished with a winning record (14-13) for the fifth consecutive season.

Trinity Miller and
Sydney Wyman and No. 3 duo
Abby Hulsman and Anya Reinard earned spots on the All-Tournament team.Â
Against Chattanooga, the Eagles jumped on top 2-0 as No. 4
Irene Wogenstahl and
Andrea Grimes won 21-18, 21-17. No. 5
Peyton Kennedy and
Brenna Bommer outlasted their foes 21-17, 18-21, 15-13 to stake the Eagles to the two-point advantage.
The No. 2 match ended next as
Bridget Bessler and
Kinsey McAfee fell, but at No. 3, Reinhard and Hulsman clinched the match with a 21-19, 16-21, 15-4 triumph.
In the championship match, Grimes and Bommer battled on court five but fell in straight sets. Wogenstahl and Grimes took their second set to extra points but eventually fell 21-17, 22-20. McAfee and Bessler saw the hosts clinch the title next, falling 21-19, 21-13.Â
