Eagle Football Position Previews: Wide Receivers and Tight Ends

8/30/2023 4:30:00 PM

*The sixth installment in a series highlighting position groups on the 2023 Morehead State football team. Next up, the wide receivers and tight ends.

Morehead State has an abundance of pass catchers heading into 2023 looking to make plays and put points on the board.

Ryan Watts is in his first season as the wide receivers coach at Morehead State, and is excited about the athletes in his position group as the Eagles inch closer to kicking off the season.

"I'm excited about the group coming into the fall," said Watts. "We have a bunch of selfless guys who compliment each other well. As a team, we plan on having a wide receiver by committee approach and they have bought into that. They are a joy to coach every day."

Returning from last season are Mikey Armour, Trevon Kleint, Kyle Daly, Ryan Upp, Caleb Tillman, Isaiah Davis, Naythan Mulugeta, and Shyheim Drew. Armour led the team in catches with 30 last season.
New to the WR room are transfers Xavier Rawls, Nate Boehm, Logan Blair, Grant Goodman, Bradley West, and Parker Pelletier, with freshmen Tyler Cordero, Cade Sullivan, Evan Shelton, and Tyler Whipple joining the program for their first seasons at the collegiate level.

In the tight end room, new TEs coach Carson Morris leads a group of six. Nicholas Dottore and wide receiver turned tight end Harrison Cohen return as the experienced Eagles of the bunch. Dottore posted eight catches for 82 yards last season, while Cohen had a catch of his own.

New to the TE room are transfers Vincent Anthony, Daniel Faccone, and Will Paar. Brody Perkins is the group's lone true freshman.

The Eagles kickoff the season on Thursday vs. West Virginia State at 6:00 p.m. ET.
