Soccer Falls at NKU on Sunday

BOX SCORE

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Morehead State sophomore goalkeeper Erin Gibbs came up with a career high nine saves but it came on the short end as the Morehead State soccer team was overwhelmed 3-0 by host Northern Kentucky on the road Sunday afternoon.

Gibbs was put to the test, as NKU had 16 total shots and 12 on target. The Eagles fell to 1-4-2 in 2023.

The Eagles found themselves in a early hole, allowing a corner kick score just 3:24 into the matinee. The Norse made it 2-0 in the 16th minute and finished off the scoring in the 67th with a second corner-kick finisher.

MSU made a flurry in the final seven minutes, with a trio of shots, including a free kick at the top of the box. But, three NKU keepers kept its scoreless streak alive at five straight matches.

The Eagles finished with eight shots and five on goal. Fifth-year forward Nicole Fiantaco led the way with three.

MSU returns to action Thursday, hosting UNC Asheville at 6 p.m. ET.
