Volleyball Set to Close Non-Conference Schedule at Chattanooga Classic

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
The final non-conference action of the regular season awaits the Morehead State volleyball team this weekend, as the Eagles head South to Tennessee for three matches at the Chattanooga Invitational. MSU is set to faceoff with Gardner-Webb (Friday, 1:30 PM), the hosting Chattanooga Mocs (Friday, 7:00 PM), and Eastern Michigan (Saturday, 12:00 PM). 

Live stats will be provided for all three Morehead State matches, with the lone ESPN+ stream available when the Eagles take on Chattanooga Friday night.

MSU vs. Gardner Webb
  • Morehead State is 3-0 vs. the Bulldogs all-time, with the last meeting coming in Charleston, S.C. in 2016. 
MSU vs. Chattanooga
  • Morehead State is 5-0 vs. the Mocs all-time, with the last meeting coming in 2009. The Eagles lone trip to Chattanooga resulted in a 3-0 win in 2000. 
MSU vs. Eastern Michigan
  • Morehead State is 0-5 all-time vs. the Eagles of EMU. The last meeting took place in Oxford, Miss., in 2004.
NOTABLE
  • Morehead State's Peighton Isley ranks third in the OVC and 15th in all of Division I in digs per set thus far this season at 5.19. She was named to the Comfort Inn-Vitational All-Tournament Team after posting three matches with 20 or more digs, including a 31-dig performance vs. Northern Kentucky - the highest total by an Eagle since 2021. 
  • Brenna Bommer's 9.47 assists per set is second in the OVC. Bommer and Sydney Sennett combined for 48 assists (24 each) vs. Northern Kentucky last Friday night. 
  • Two Eagles rank in the top 10 in hitting percentage in the OVC. Amelia Nott's .284 ranks ninth, while Irene Wogenstahl's .273 ranks 10th. Wogenstahl ranks first in the OVC in solo blocks with nine, fifth in blocks per set (0.97) and is tied for fifth in total blocks with 31. 
  • M.E. Hargan leads the team in both points (100.5) and points per set (3.14) by a slim margin, as Hollan Everett is second in both categories (100.0 pts, 3.13 pts/s). 
  • Shea Hefner and Courtney Fitzgerald have both been adept at getting quick points for the Eagles this season, sitting in first and second on the team with in aces with 13 and 12 respectively. 
  • Maycie Welborn impressed at the Comfort Inn-Vitational, posting three straight matches with 10 or more kills.
