Soccer Comes Up Just Short at Austin Peay Sunday, 2-1

Once again, the Morehead State soccer team had the advantage in nearly all the stats, but Sunday, the Eagles came up short on the scoreboard at Austin Peay, 2-1.

MSU slipped to 1-3-1, while the Govs moved to 2-3-1, scoring a pair of first-half goals before the Eagles cut the lead in half before halftime.

Trailing 2-0, freshman Hedda Ornberg netted her second career goal at the 36:13 mark. Her tally was assisted by junior Erin Fite, the second helper of her Eagle career.

Morehead State, the Ohio Valley Conference leader in shots, kept up the pace against Austin Peay. The Eagles sent 18 shots toward the goal, with 10 on target. MSU also  dominated in corner kicks, 10-2. The Eagles had a pair of corner chances and two shots on goal in the final three minutes.

The shots were balanced for MSU, with fifth-year Kate Larbes, junior Avery Redmon and freshman Michelle Hochstadt taking a trio apiece.

MSU also saw the home team commit three times as many fouls as it was whistled for, 15-5.

The Eagles will appear at home again this week as they host Bellarmine Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
