MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Following a solid weekend, Morehead State volleyball's
Hollan Everett became the first Eagle to take home an OVC Weekly Award in 2023 after being honored as the OVC's Freshman of the Week on Monday.
The honor is the 158th OVC Weekly Award bestowed upon the program, and the 29th total Freshman of the Week Award.
Everett put together three great matches at the Marshall Invitational, most notably a 15 kill effort vs. Akron, hitting .286 against the Zips with a pair of blocks defensively. She had nine kills in a sweep of Marshall, and another seven vs. Coppin State for a total of 31 on the weekend.
A native of Norris City, Ill., Everett is the first Eagle since
Bridget Bessler in 2019 to win OVC Freshman of the Week. She ranks second on the team in both kills (50) and kills per set (2.63).
Morehead State is back in action this weekend, hosting Butler, Indiana State, and Northern Kentucky at the annual Comfort Inn-Vitational.
