MARTIN, Tenn. -- Morehead State volleyball secured its second consecutive 3-0 sweep Friday, topping UT Martin on its home floor. The Eagles won 25-18, 25-19, 25-16 on the strength of a season-high 15 blocks.
MSU improved to 7-9 overall and 3-2 in the conference and upped its dominance in the series to a 49-14 lead.
Amelia Nott,
Sydney Wyman and
Irene Wogenstahl combined on 21 block assists, with NoTt notching a career-high eight. Wogenstahl had seven rejections and now needs only six more to become just the third player in program history to reach the 400 career block plateau. Wyman was part of six Skyhawk swings turned back.
Offensively, MSU was led by a dynamic duo of
M.E. Hargan and
Hollan Everett, who combined for 22 kills. Hargan finished with 12 kills on the effort of a career-best .476 hitting percentage, while Everett slammed down 10 kills with only three miscues for a .350 attack efficiency.
Overall, MSU managed 37 kills with only 11 errors for a .350 performance. Meanwhile the defensive stalwarts held the Skyhawks to only a .073 attack night. The Eagles out-dug UTM 35-27.
The teams will tangle again on Saturday at UTM at 3 p.m. ET.
