BOX SCORE
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Despite Morehead State volleyball falling 3-1 to Southeast Missouri at Johnson Arena Friday night, there was one positive point in particular. Graduate student middle blocker
Irene Wogenstahl became just the third player in the rally scoring era (2001-present) to reach 400 career total blocks.
The Eagles (8-10, 4-3 OVC) fell in the opening set 25-20 before rallying to tie it with a 25-22 win in set two. The Redhawks regrouped though and handed the home team 25-15 and 25-14 setbacks to claim their win and improve to 5-1 in the OVC.
Wogenstahl, from Crestview Hills, Ky., now has 403 career total blocks, of which 333 are block assists. She joins Emma Keough (432 from 2007-11) and Annie Gruenschlaeger (492 from 2009-12) as the only Eagles in the 400-block club. Her 333 career assists ranks third in the rally era and fourth for all era at MSU. Tonight she also finished with eight kills.
Junior outside hitter
M.E. Hargan notched her 12th career double-double and fifth this season with a team high 11 kills to go along with 10 digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Hollan Everett joined Hargan in double-figure kills with 10. But, the Redhawks defense, which came up with 10 blocks to the Eagles' 11, limited Hargan to just an .071 attack efficiency.
On the back row, senior libero
Peighton Isley came up with her sixth match of 20+ digs this season with 25. Isley now ranks fourth in career digs for players in MSU history in the 25-point scoring era (2008-present) with 1,266.
SEMO was led by Lucy Arndt with 11 kills and Abby Johnson with 10. The Redhawks had a slight edge in total digs with 78-76. Nine Schubert led all players in the stat column with 28 ups.
The match was close at times and not so close at others as there were only eight ties in the four sets and four lead changes all night.
The teams will be back at it again on the same court at 2 p.m. ET Saturday.
