BOX SCORE
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Men's Basketball was in a great spot at Chattanooga Thursday night, holding an eight point lead late in the first half. But, a cold spell of more than 11 minutes without a made field goal allowed the Mocs to scurry past MSU as the Eagles ultimately fell 76-62 at McKenzie Arena.
The Eagles (1-3) were led by center
Dieonte Miles and his third career double-double. Miles finished with a career-high 13Â points and a season-high 11 rebounds. Guard
Jalen Breazeale posted a season-best six assists and totaled nine points.
Jerone Morton, seeing his first action of 2024-25, finished with nine points.
But, the Mocs' consistent offense, including xx three-pointers and 36 points in the paint, proved to be too much to come back from.
MSU led 37-29 with 2:37 remaining in the first half but saw Chattanooga rally to tie it 37-37 at the half. MSU then didn't hit a field goal until the 13:15 mark in the final 20 minutes and witnessed the home team surge ahead by as much as 17.
The Eagles shot 50 percent (14-of-28) in the opening half but were limited to just 30 percent in the final half. MSU finished at 42 percent for the night.
Bash Wieland led the Mocs with a game-high 26 points.
Morehead State is back at home on Wednesday to host former OVC rival Austin Peay at 7 p.m. ET.
