Old Rival Austin Peay Visits for Men's Basketball Battle Wednesday

MOREHEAD, Ky. --  Morehead State Men's basketball is back in Johnson Arena on Wednesday evening as the Eagles take on former conference rival Austin Peay at 7 p.m. ET.

Morehead State and Austin Peay, long-time Ohio Valley Conference foes, renew their clashes this week after playing one another in Clarksville, Tenn., last winter. This will mark the 107th all-time meeting with MSU having won the last four times and taking a 60-56 upperhand in the series.

The game can be heard on the Eagle Sports Radio Network (WIVY-96.3 FM flagship station as well as WGOH in Grayson, Ky.) with Chuck Mraz and Drew Barnette. It is also available on MSUEagles.com. ESPN+ has the game broadcast with Jared Stacy and Dean Hardin.

NOTABLE
• OVC journeyman Kenny White, Jr., has led MSU in scoring in three of the four games and is pacing the Eagles at 11.5 points per game.

• Graduate transfer Kade Ruegsegger posted his first D1 double-double against Boyce (Ky.). Ruegsegger, an all-conference player for Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) in the NAIA, scored 1,776 career points at MVNU. He is the third consecutive player from the NAIA ranks to transfer to MSU, joining Alex Gross (Olivet Nazarene [Ill.]) in 2022-23 and Riley Minix (Southeastern [Fla.]) in 2023-24.

• After four contests, Morehead State's tradition of tough rebounding has held up. The Eagles rank third in the OVC in rebound margin at +1.5. MSU grabbed 45 boards at Louisville and tied No. 20 Cincinnati on the boards, 30-30.

• In the last four seasons, Morehead State owns a 90-3 record when the Eagles hold a lead with a minute left in regulation time.

• Among the 11 Ohio Valley Conference programs, MSU boasts the highest number of graduate students (4) and the highest number of sixth-year players (2).

• MSU has received solid production off the bench this year. In the first four games, the Eagle bench has produced double digit points every game (18, 16, 14, 17) and is averaging 16 points per game.

• The roster features nine newcomers to the program, including six who have played at least one season at a four-year college. Of the Eagles' six players who had yet to see a game as an Eagle prior to Monday (also counting Jalen Windham who red-shirted in 2023-24), they have 400 combined Division I games played.

• Graduate student Dieonte Miles posted his third career double-double at Chattanooga. The 7-foot Miles scored a career-high 13 and grabbed 11 rebounds - the second game he's had 11 boards this year. He also established a career best game with three steals. 

• Bryant transfer Tyler Brelsford owns an 81 percent career free throw shooting accuracy. Dating back to last season, Brelsford has connected on 13 consecutive free throws.

• Point guard Jalen Breazeale dished out a season-high six assists at Chattanooga. 

Jerone Morton returned after missing the first three games to score nine points at Chattanooga.
