MOREHEAD, Ky. -- In just one season leading the Morehead State football program, head coach
Jason Woodman established the building blocks of success. For his efforts, Woodman has been awarded a contract extension through the 2028Â season.
Woodman, who spent 10 seasons at Fairmont State (W.Va.) before coming to MSU for the 2024 season, led the Eagles to a 7-5 record, including five Pioneer Football League wins and a third place finish. It was just the third seven-win season since 2008.
"Morehead State University is thrilled to announce the extension of Head Football Coach
Jason Woodman's contract. Â Coach Woodman has brought immediate success to the field, but more importantly, he has established a culture and process that align perfectly with the values and vision of MSU," said Director of Athletics Kelly Wells. "His leadership, dedication, and commitment to our student-athletes have been instrumental in building a foundation for sustained excellence. Â We are excited to continue this journey with Coach Woodman, his family, and his staff as vital members of the Morehead community. Â The future of Eagle Football is bright!"
MSU had 18 players earn an All-PFL award in Woodman's first season. The Eagles also ranked among the best teams in the conference on defense. In six of the seven wins, the unit allowed 10 points or less.Â
"We are just beginning," said Woodman. "I am excited for the future building a championship program here at Morehead State."
Morehead State also collected road victories at rival Dayton and at Drake (to end the Bulldogs' nation-leading conference winning streak at 17 games). The Eagles also led the conference in home attendance again.
Woodman had served as head coach at Fairmont State in his hometown since 2013. He guided the Falcons to 60 wins and five winning seasons, including three consecutive 8-plus win seasons for the first time in program history.
