12/23/2024 4:00:00 PM

Morehead, Ky.-- For the third consecutive week, an Eagle freshman has claimed a weekly honor from the Ohio Valley Conference. Morehead State's Chrishawn Coleman has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for her play Thursday against UT Martin and Saturday against Tennessee State.

In Thursday's game against UT Martin, Coleman led the Eagles with 12 points, shooting 4-10 from the field and was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line.

She came back in Saturday's 68-51 win over Tennessee State and tied her career high with 16 points, largely on the strength at the free throw line. She hit 12 of her 13 free throw attempts.

For the week, the freshman from Arlington, Texas averaged 14 points per game and hit 16 of her 17 free throw attempts (94.1%). Coleman has scored in double figures in four of the last five games. In the Eagles' last four outings, she has hit 24 of her 27 free throw attempts (88.9%).

This is Coleman's second weekly award from the OVC. She was named Co-Freshman of the Week on December 10. Last week, Vancouver, B.C., Canada native Maia Rosarion claimed the Freshman of the Week honor.
After a break for the Christmas holiday, Coleman and the Eagles return to play a New Year's Eve tilt at Southern Indiana.
