MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Riley Minix poured in a game-high 29 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for his Ohio Valley Conference-best 13th double-double, but a layup with 24 seconds left gave host Little Rock a 69-68 victory over the Morehead State Men's Basketball team Thursday night at Jack Stephens Center.
In a back and forth affair, the Trojans got an offensive rebound off a three-point miss, and Bradley Douglas connected on a spinning layup in the lane with 24 ticks left.
Drew Thelwell's three-pointer at the buzzer went awry for MSU, which fell to 20-6 and 11-2 in the OVC.Â
Kalil Thomas drained five three-pointers and scored 19 for his team, while Thelwell shook off a seven turnover game to dish out eight assists and score 13 points.
KK Robinson scored a team-high 21 for the home team.
How It Happened
Little Rock built a double-digit lead early and held a 31-19 cushion with 3:17 left in the first half. But the Eagles fought back and ended the half on an 9-0 run to only trail 31-28 at the break.
The second half featured more back and forth jockeying before MSU finally grabbed a 41-40 lead on Thomas' triple with 14:18 left. MSU did not relinquaih the lead again until the game-winning shot by Douglas. However, the Eagles could not push their lead to more than five (on three occasions).
