LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Morehead State baseball team struggled offensively on Friday, falling to Little Rock in its OVC opener.
Luke Helton (4-2) got the ball to start for Morehead State (12-10, 0-1 OVC) and took the loss. Sophomore Ethan Davis was a bright spot for the Eagles, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit, with one walk and one strikeout.
Offensively, the Eagles were led by senior Colton Becker, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Morehead State managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Eagles last got a runner on third in the eighth, when freshman Davis Germann made it 90 feet away from scoring with two outs.
GAME NOTES
» Morehead State pitchers faced 37 Little Rock hitters in the game, allowing six ground balls and nine fly balls while striking out seven.
» Becker led the Eagles at the plate, going 1-for-4 with a double.
MSU looks to even the series in the second game of the series tomorrow at 5:00 PM.
