MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Freshman Trinity Spear went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI for the Morehead State Eagles in a 9-4 loss to the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles on Sunday.
Sophomore Jessie Begley (4-4) took the loss in the circle for Morehead State (8-14, 2-7).
For the second straight game, MSU collected nine hits, which ties for its second-best output of the spring. The Eagles also were patient at the plate, drawing three walks off the Ohio Valley Conference's season leader in fewest bases on balls allowed, Emily York, who entered the series surrendering a league low of nine.
At the plate, the Eagles were paced by Spear, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a triple and two RBI. Junior Darlene Montoya furnished a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-4 with an RBI. Freshman Kendra Lewis also helped out for Morehead State, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Eagles first put runs on the board in the second inning. Spear's triple off of senior Lennon Spicer plated two for Morehead State.
The Eagles lost the lead they built in the second, but got back on the board in the fourth trailing 4-2. Montoya's run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Morehead State scored twice, which brought the score level at 4-4.
Tennessee Tech scored five times in the fifth to break the tie and grab the 9-4 win. The Golden Eagles finished with nine hits.
