MOREHEAD, Ky. -- For the second straight season, Morehead State women's basketball had two players named to All-OVC for their efforts.
Veronica Charles (First Team) and
Katie Novik (Second Team) were named All-OVC for their play throughout the 2023-24 season, the league announced Tuesday.
Charles was recongized as First Team All-OVC, All-Newcomer, and Defensive Player of the Year after the 2022-23 season, and followed up that trifecta of honors with another First Team All-OVC selection as a senior in 2023-24. This season, the Nigerian native led the Eagles in scoring (14.3), assists (4.0 AST), and steals (2.5 STL). She is currently on three-game streak of scoring 20+, which began with her 31 point outburst at Western Illinois -- the highest single game point total by an Eagle since 2019.
Katie Novik, a freshman guard from Grodno, Belarus, burst onto the scene in 2023-24, and was named Second Team All-OVC. Novik has played in all 29 games with 24 starts, and ranks first on the team in three-point percentage at 37.4% while also leading the team in blocked shots. She ranks second in scoring (11.2), steals (1.7 STL), assists (3.7), and field goal percentage (44.5%), while ranking third in rebounding (4.4 RPG). She has 18 double figure scoring performances with a season-high of 21 points at SEMO (12/31/23).
This week, the Eagles' All-OVC backcourt of Charles and Novik will lead MSU into the OVC Tournament, where No. 5 seeded Morehead State will take on No. 8 seed Tennessee State in the opening round.
