MOREHEAD, Ky. -- A fast start for the Morehead State Volleyball team against No. 9 Kentucky Sunday did not ultimately hold up as the Wildcats handed the Eagles a 3-0 defeat at Memorial Coliseum.

The Eagles and Wildcats went back and forth for a majority of the first half of the opening set before a 7-0 run by the home team changed the tide. UK went on to win 25-19. The 'Cats then claimed set two 25-13 and raced to a 25-8 winner in the finale.
Morehead State had a tough time on offense against the SEC foe. MSU ended up with 17 total kills, but the hosts forced 21 errors for a negative attack percentage.
M.E. Hargan had six kills to lead her team, while
Irene Wogenstahl landed five.Â
Amelia Nott came up with three blocks.
UK ended up hitting .369 with 40 kills. UK also smacked back 10 blocks.
MSU will continue its season at Geri Polvino Invitational at Eastern Kentucky Friday when they face EKU at 1 p.m. and Youngstown State at 4 p.m. ET.
