1/4/2025 5:38:00 PM

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- A 13-2 run by the host Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles to end the first half and a tough tme finding successful buckets in the second too spelled trouble for the Morehead State Men's Basketball team Saturday as the Eagles fell 74-55 at TTU's Eblen Center.

The Eagles (8-7/3-1 OVC) saw their five-game winning streak halted and lost to Tech for just the third time in 11 tries. TTU moved to 3-1 in the OVC and 8-7 overall.

Tied 27-27 with 5:07 left in the first half following Anouar Mellouk's bucket, MSU was held to just seven points over the next 10+ minutes of game time. TTU outscored the Eagles 13-2 to take a 40-29 halftime lead. It was the largest halftime deficit to a TTU team for MSU since the 2005 season.

The Eagles had a really tough time finding the bottom of the net, especially from distance. MSU finished 3-of-15 from three-point range. Meanwhile the difference was Tech hit eight three-pointers, including 4-of-5 by leading scorer Matthew Sells. He finished with 17 points.

MSU was led by point guard Jerone Morton, along with former TTU player Kenny White, Jr. and Mellouk. Morton scored a team-best 13, while White and Mellouk each had 12.

MSU had 37 rebounds, its average, but allowed TTU to grab 40. Morehead State finished at 36 percent from the field.

MSU remains on the road this week, first with a contest at Little Rock Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
