MOREHEAD, Ky.--
After a tough tournament in Georgia, the Morehead State men's golf team will head to the Queen City, to compete in the Xavier Invitational for its final tournament of the 2025 calendar year.

The Eagles are fresh off a fifth-place tie at The Scrappy at Cobblestone in Acworth, Ga. The course was a tough one, aiding only one individual out of 62 to finish under par. Gavin Augenstein and Seamus Bogan led the Eagles team, each tying for 11th.

Morehead State last played in the Xavier Invitational last October, in which they finished 8th out of 11 competing teams.

"Maketewah is always a great test," said Morehead State Head Coach Matthew Martin." We have played well here in the past. The top teams will be the ones that handle the inevitable adversity with grit and perseverance."

The Eagles have had a successful 2025 campaign to this point. One of the biggest highlights came from their record-breaking, second place, finish in the Derek Dolenc Invitational. The Eagles broke the school record for a team total in a 54-hole tournament (833). It was previously 834 at the JT Poston Invitational in 2019. They also broke the record for a team score of -19.

The Eagles will tee-off on Monday at 8:30 a.m. and play 36 holes. They will finish up play the following day with another 8:30 a.m. start time. The awards ceremony will take place following the tournament, at 2:00 p.m..
