MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead Statre Rifle opened its season Saturday hosting Mount Aloysius (Pa.), and the Eagles topped the Mounties 4,663-4,562.
Air Rifle was a bright spot for the home team where senior
Adrianna Beard led the way with a 590, while three others scored 589. Senior
Hayden Bell and sophomores
Trey Myers and
Chloe Shannon contributed to MSU's 2357 total in Air. Freshman
Hannah Goin fired a 586 in her first collegiate match.
Smallbore saw a pair of 580s for the Eagles. Bell and Myers hit that plateau, with Myers scoring a personal best in standing at 189 and tying his personal standard for prone at 199. Sophomore
George Kuhne (575), Shannon (571) and Goin (569) rounded out MSU's squad on Smallbore.
Being her first match, Goin established all her career highs.
Juniors
Maria Koenig and
Cooper Gray also took part, with Koenig fashioning a 581 in Air.
Molly Miller and Sydney Castel led the visitors with a 588 each on the Air range.
The teams will line up again on Sunday for a match, beginning at 8 a.m. ET.
