MOREHEAD, Ky. —Morehead State volleyball/beach volleyball student-athlete
M.E. Hargan has earned one of six Scholar-Athlete Awards from the Ohio Valley Conference for 2025-26. The award is the highest individual honor bestowed upon student-athletes at OVC institutions.
Hargan is the fifth volleyball student-athlete and second from Eagle beach volleyball to ever earn one of the Scholar-Athlete awards. She is the 17
th female winner in history from Morehead State. Morehead State now has 35 all-time Scholar-Athletes, third most in league history.
"I've worked really hard academically and athletically the past three years here, so I'm super grateful to be recognized for all the effort I've put in and honored to receive the award," she said.
An outside hitter, she has been a four-year starter during the fall indoor season. Indoors, she has earned a pair of First-Team All-OVC honors and was named to the 2024 OVC All-Tournament squad. Hargan has earned five OVC Offensive Player of the Week awards in 2025.
Earlier this season she became a member of the MSU 1,000 Career Kill Club. In beach volleyball she has also been selected All-OVC in 2024. In 2025 indoor, Hargan leads the OVC in kills and kills per set.
In the classroom she has a 3.76 grade point average in veterinary science (with a minor in chemistry). She has earned the OVC Academic Medal of Honor, been named Academic All-District and to the MSU Dean's List. She is a member of the Pre-Vet Club, the Ceramics Club and serves as a biology lab teacher's assistant.
She was a recipient of the OVC Community Service Award, volunteering thousands of hours at several places including the Elizabethtown Animal Hospital, the Kentucky Equine Hospital and MedVet Hospital among other volunteers activities. She also studied abroad in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, in the spring of 2024.
