Sunday marks the first-ever meeting in men's basketball between Georgia and Morehead State. The program has wins against SEC programs Florida and Alabama in its history.
Head Coach
Jonathan Mattox attended Oconee County High School, just southwest of Athens. As a senior, he helped the Warriors to a Class AAA Region 8 title and berth in the Class AAA Elite Eight. Mattox finished his collegiate playing career at Emmanuel University in Franklin Springs, just northeast of Athens.
Georgia enters 2-0 with lopsided wins over Bellarmine and Maryland-Eastern Shore.

George Marshall had a career-best night at Wake Forest. He scored a career-high 26 points, added a career-best four steals and three assists - and made career-highs in three-pointers (4) and free throws (6).

Chase Dawson was the 2024-25 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year at Mount Olive (N.C.). Dawson scored the third-most points in a single season in Mount Olive (N.C.) (Division II) history after racking up 642 points in 30 games played.

Jon Carroll was named Second-Team NJCAA Division II All-American last year and produced 18 double-doubles at North Central Missouri College. Carroll made all seven of his FG attempts against Midway. He is the first Eagle since Treshaad Williams on Dec. 28, 2016, to go perfect from the field on a minimum of 7 attempts.

George Marshall, Jr. had a career-best night at Wake Forest. He scored a career-high 26 points, added a career-best four steals and three assists - and made career-highs in three-pointers (4) and free throws (6). His four steals are the most for an Eagle against a Power 4 Conference team in the past five seasons (17 games).

George Marshall, Jr. made 29 of his last 30 free throws to finish the 2024-25 season, so he's now made 35 of his last 37 attempts from the stripe.
• Morehead State has a +11 advantage in points off turnovers in the first two games of 2025-26. MSU's six blocked shots against Wake Forest are the most against a Power 4 Conference team since 2020-21 (17 games).

Josiah LeGree's eight assists in the home opener Monday night vs. Midway tied for the most assists in a home opener in the past 10 seasons, joining Drew Thelwell's eight on Nov. 23, 2023.

Anouar Mellouk registered 10 double-figure scoring games in his first season as an Eagle and started off right Monday when he scored 13. He is also the lone international player on the roster, hailing from Amsterdam, Netherlands.
• Morehead State had four players in double figures against Midway, and ironically all four were NOT starters. MSU got 66 of its 89 points from players off the bench.
• Freshman
Vince Dawson III is a state champion. He led Great Crossing High School in Georgetown, Ky., to the Sweet 16 title in 2024-25.
Davion Cunningham was also a state champion at North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, North Carolina.

Tamaury Releford earned the MVP of the Arkansas State Tournament and was named the Northwest Arkansas Conference MVP during his senior season in 2021-22.
