Morehead State Drops Tough 8-3 Contest to Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. --The Morehead State Eagles had a tough showing on Friday, falling to the Kennesaw State Owls 8-3 despite the efforts of freshman Ilencia Lightbody, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI.

Freshman Riley Burney (0-4) started and took the loss in the circle for Morehead State (0-7).

In the batter's box, the Eagles were led by Lightbody, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a triple and three RBI. Freshman Kendra Lewis put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with a triple.

Playing at home for the first time this season, Kennesaw State (2-5) won both of its games on the first day of the Kennesaw State Tournament.

"Ilencia was really good today at the plate and she kept us in the game," said MSU coach Megan Griffith. "All season, we have had different players step up at different times offensively when we've needed it."
