Morehead, Ky.-- Morehead State Golf alumnus Josh Teater fired a final round 65 to come from behind to win the Korn Ferry Tour's Panama Championship Sunday in Panama City, Panama.

Teater, who started the final round six strokes behind at four under par and tied for 20th, birdied three of the first five holes on Sunday and made the turn in two under par 33. He added four birdies on the back, with a bogey on 18 to finish at 65 (-5) for the round.

"I tried to control what I could and let everything fall where it may," said Teater. "When I finished, I was satisfied with how I played and knew it was in the Lord's hands."

Teater recorded rounds of 68-70-68-68 (-9) over the Club de Golf de Panama's 7,534 par-70 course. His final round of 65 was one of only nine rounds under par in the final round. His 19 birdies for the week tied for first statistically.

"Club de Golf is a very tough test, and Sunday was the toughest day of the week," said Teater. "Having played here at least six times, I knew I had to be patient, and I was able to do that all week."

With the win, Teater earned $180,000 and picked up 500 points in the Korn Ferry Tour's Points List. He is projected to move to second place on the list.  The top 20 finishers on the Korn Ferry Tour's points list will earn status onto the PGA Tour for the 2026 season.

"I look forward to the rest of the season and hope to give myself more chances to win," Teater added.

The win comes on the heels of a T-7 finish at the Great Abaco Classic two weeks ago in the Bahamas. This is his second tournament victory of his career; he won the 2009 Utah Championship Presented by the Utah Sports Commission.

Teater led Morehead State to an Ohio Valley Conference title in 1999. He was inducted into the Morehead State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
