Christopher Totals 3 Hits in George Washington Rematch

CLINTON, S.C. --The Morehead State Eagles got a boost from Maddy Christopher, who collected three hits in a 7-3 loss to the George Washington Revolutionaries Saturday.

Rylie Burney (0-2) took the loss in the circle for Morehead State (0-3).

Christopher's three-hit day led the Eagles offensively. Darlene Montoya put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. Taikibrea Campbell also contributed for Morehead State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double.

"This game was the opposite of yesterday," MSU coach Megan Griffith said. "We got out to an early lead, but we made a few mistakes at the wrong time and things got away from us at the end. This game was closer than the final score made it seem."

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Eagles got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Mont0ya's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Morehead State.

The Revolutionaries failed to push any runs across before the Eagles offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Campbell came across to score the lone run of the inning for Morehead State, which brought the score to 3-0 in favor of the Eagles. The Eagles were unable to hold the lead, as George Washington scored seven times over the remaining five innings to grab the 7-3 win.
