Morehead, Ky. -- The Morehead State men's golf team is gearing up for the Ohio Valley Conference Championship beginning Sunday in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
The format for the tournament over the Dalhousie Golf Club course will be 18 holes of stroke play over the first three days of the event. On Wednesday, the top four teams advance to match play to determine the conference champion.
"We are very excited to head back to Dalhousie for the OVC Championship," said Eagle head coach
Matthew Martin. "The course is a fantastic championship venue."
Morehead State will line up
Nolan Piazza, Remy Salcup,
Seamus Bogan,
Gavin Augenstein and
Logan McCormick.
Logan Liles is the substitute.
"The competition for the four match play spots will be fierce," said Martin. "I look forward to seeing our guys complete their hardest to get there."
Last season, the Eagles finished in a tie for fifth in the OVC Championship, also played at Dalhousie Golf Club.
The Eagles are coming off a third-place (out of 15) finish in their last full-field event, the Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis, N.C. In that event
Remy Stalcup posted a T6 finish, and
Nolan Piazza finished T8. MSU has posted five top-five finishes this season.
