Morehead, Ky.-- The Morehead State volleyball team kicks off their 2025 campaign the weekend at the Cardinal Classic hosted by the University of Louisville at the L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.Â
The Eagles will kick off the multi-team event Friday when they take on St. John's at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, MSU will face off with Auburn at noon Saturday and wrap up the Cardinal Classic when they meet the fourth-ranked Louisville Cardinals Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
The team is looking forward to getting the season underway in an exciting atmosphere.
The matches on Friday and Saturday can be seen on ESPN+. Sunday's match can be watched on the ACCX Network.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS AND SERIES HISTORY
- Friday will be the first match against St. John's.
- The Eagles have met Auburn only once; a 3-2 win in Morehead on October 24, 1994.
- MSU is 20-26 overall vs. Louisville. The teams last met on September 12, 2014, in Weatherby Gym in Morehead. The Cardinals swept the Eagles 3-0. The last time the Eagles defeated the Cardinals was on September 10, 1988. MSU took a 3-1 decision.

NOTABLE
• Morehead State qualified for last season's NCAA tournament even though they were defeated in the OVC tournament championship match. Lindenwood was in a transition from Division II and was not eligible.

• MSU finished the 2024 season with an 18-15 overall record and a 12-6 mark in Ohio Valley Conference play (4th in the regular season standings). The Eagles graduated 49% of their kills from last season.

• MSU hosted Eastern Kentucky last Saturday for their lone preseason tune-up. After dropping the first two sets 14-25 and 23-25, the Eagles won three straight sets (25-21, 25-22, 15-10) to pull off the reverse sweep.

Amelia Nott led the way for Morehead State in the scrimmage with 13 kills, hitting .323 and led the club with seven blocks. Outside hitter
Hollan Everett added 12 kills while senior
Sarah Heath finished with 10 kills, hitting .346 and added six blocks.

Courtney Fitzgerald tied for match honors with 15 digs.
Hargan had nine kills and posted a match-high four service aces.

Hargan enters the season needing just five kills to become the 22nd member of the 1000-kill club at Morehead State. Hargan has been a First Team All-OVC selection the past two seasons.

Hargan ranks 7th in the modern (25-point rally scoring) era in the MSU record books with those 995 career kills. She also ranks fifth in the modern era with 3,042 Total Attacks.

Nott tied for the club lead with 119 total blocks in 2024. That ranked ninth in the OVC. Nott also led the Eagles with 35 service aces last season.

Bailey Brashear spent her first three collegiate season at Quinnipiac before transferring to MSU last Spring. Last season she recorded 95 kills, 78 total blocks and five aces in 27 matches. She holds the Rowan County Senior High School records with 1,250 kills and 306 total blocks.
