Morehead, Ky.-- Morehead State's
M.E. Hargan has been named this week's Offensive Player of the Week by the Ohio Valley Conference.
The award is the second consecutive honor for the senior outside hitter from Elizabethtown, Ky. Hargan got off to a quick start in last weekend's tournament in Evansville against OVC foe Western Illinois; she equaled her season high with 22 kills while hitting an impressive .395 attack efficiency. She also collected 12 digs for her 23
rd career double-double.
On the weekend, Hargan slammed 54 kills, hitting .282, leading MSU to wins over Western Illinois, UAB and the host Evansville Aces. She smacked seven aces, piled up 28 digs and six total blocks. She posted 64.5 points over the trio of matches.
"M.E. did a great job putting away a lot of balls this weekend against some scrappy defensive teams," said Morehead State head coach
Kyrsten Becker-McBride. "Credit is also due to everyone who set her this weekend, in system and out of system, putting her in situations where she was able to execute."Â
For her efforts, she was named to the all-tournament team and was named the MVP for the event. For the season, she has 139 kills. Her 4.48 kills per set rate and 163 points both rank first in the OVC. She has the conference's match highs for kills in a four-set match (22, twice) and kills in a three set match (18 versus Evansville 9/13/25)
Morehead State returns to play Thursday when they host Xavier in Johnson Arena. First serve is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
