Men's Hoops Looks to Garner Road W at SIUE Saturday

MOREHEAD, Ky. --  Looking to erase the memory of a setback Thursday at Lindenwood, Morehead State's men's hoops teams is back in action on the road at SIUE Saturday. Tip off time will be at 4:30 pm. ET following the women's game.

Morehead State leads the all-time series with SIUE 16-8, but the Cougars have won the previous two meetings (last season) and the last two times the teams have met in Edwardsville.

The Cougars enter after a 59-55 win over Southern Indiana on Thursday. They are 2-1 in OVC games.

NOTABLE
• The program has had particular success in the first half of the conference schedule. MSU started OVC action 9-1 last season and was 11-1 at one point in 2023-24. The Eagles have kick-started the 2025-26 OVC action 2-1.

• Morehead State has won six consecutive overtime contests. The last time MSU dropped an overtime affair was in the final game of the 2019-20 season against Tennessee State in the OVC Tournament.

• Morehead State has hit at least one three-pointer in 194 straight games. The last time MSU did not hit a triple was Jan. 16, 2020 at Tennessee State.

Josiah LeGree posted his first career double-double against Alice Lloyd (Ky.), with 20 points and 10 assists. His six three-pointers were the most by an Eagle since Kalil Thomas drained seven vs. UT Martin on March 8, 2024.

George Marshall, Jr. is averaging a team-best 17.3 points per game in OVC contests so far. Marshall has averaged 13.1 ppg in the last seven games for the Eagles.

Jon Carroll nearly collected his fifth double-double at Lindenwood Thursday with 18 points and nine rebounds.  Along with the four games of 10+-10+, he also has two games where's he scored 10+ and grabbed nine rebounds and one game with 10 rebounds and eight points.

• The Eagles rank in the top four in nine (9) stat categories among OVC squads.

• In the past five years, MSU is an astonishing 108-3 when it holds a lead with a minute left in the game.

• Freshman Vince Dawson III is a state champion. He led Great Crossing High School in Georgetown, Ky., to the Sweet 16 title in 2024-25. Davion Cunningham was also a state champion at North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, North Carolina.

• In six of the games where the Eagles have out-rebounded their opponent, they have done so by at least a +8 margin.

• MSU has eight games where it committed less fouls than its opponent.

• MSU has attempted at least 55 field goals in 13 of the first 14 games.

• Morehead State's non-starters average 31.5 points per game, second in the OVC. MSU has two games (KCU and Alice Lloyd [Ky.]) where the bench scored 60+ points.

• Morehead State has out-rebounded 116 opponents in the last five years, winning 94 of those games.

• MSU has scored 20+ points in the paint in all 14 games and averages 35.8 paint points per game.
